What a centre teaches

This is the Foundation Phase curriculum for a Kidscatchup franchise. Grade R to Grade 3. The Catch-up workbook is the lesson. A signed-in teacher opens the classroom pack on the learning site. It is not published on this page.

A learner needs their own workbook. The teacher pack does not replace it. The full books stay in the shop.

A session is 45 minutes

5 min Flashcards. The learner says the sound, the word, or the number.

25 min One page of that grade’s Catch-up workbook. You sit with them.

10 min One printable that matches the page: trace, count, or cut.

5 min They read the line, or count the set, out loud before they leave.

Twice a week is enough to start. A flagship centre runs four groups: Grade R, 1, 2 and 3.

The books, by grade

Grade R

Breakthrough Catch-Up, then Phonics Catch-Up when the letters are ready. Print the alphabet cards, the scissor sheets, and number tracing. The aim is sounds, talk, a steady pencil, and numbers to 10. My First Readers can start when the child can read a short line.

Grade 1

Phonics Catch-Up, Reading Catch-Up, My Catch-Up Word Book, and Maths Catch-Up. Print the animal cards, the fruit cards, number counting, and number colouring. The aim is building words, a first book, and numbers to 20.

Grade 2

Literacy Catch-Up, Reading Catch-Up, Maths Catch-Up, and Phonics Catch-Up Level 2. Print the sight-word pack and the weather cards. The aim is reading that flows, a written sentence, and addition.

Grade 3

Literacy Catch-Up, Reading Catch-Up, Maths Catch-Up, Creative Writing Catch-Up, and Phonics Catch-Up Level 3. Add Afrikaans Catch-Up where the class takes Afrikaans. Print the feelings cards and the solar-system cards for the talk at the start. The aim is a paragraph, comprehension, and a maths problem they can explain.

What each franchise uses

Book reseller

You sell the right book for the grade. You do not run the lesson. Use the list above when a school or a parent asks what to buy.

Reseller and tutoring

You sell the books and you run the 45-minute session. Print the kit below. Order one workbook per learner.

Flagship centre

Same curriculum, in a room of your own. Four groups, twice a week. The kit is on the table before the children arrive.

Before the first lesson

Sit with the child for a short check. First name and one initial only. The result says which group and which book.

Teacher pack

The full classroom pack is for a signed-in teacher. It has the flashcards, tracing, number pages, colouring, mazes and worksheets. Every file carries the Kids Catchup logo. The pack is not published on this website.

Open the teacher pack. Sign in on the learning site, then open that page again. Print for your own class. Do not send the files on, and do not put them on a public page.
